North Willow Glen
Neighbors earn Spirit Award
by Justin Creasett
May 2004

On May 7, Our City Forest recognized the North Willow Glen neighborhood for excellent Community Spirit. North Willow Glen was among 8 neighborhoods commended for its resident enthusiasm and participation in street tree plantings (Delmas, Horace Mann, Senter Road, Creekside, San Antonio Unida, Bannock Circle, and Northside were the other neighborhoods).

North Willow Glen was one of two of these neighborhoods given a special Spirit commendation, in the form of flowers in a mosaic pot by local artist Judith Davies.

This all happened at the OCF "People and Trees Awards" dinner; Mayor Ron Gonzales gave the keynote address, and several Councilpeople including Ken Yeager helped give out the awards.

Our City Forest is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and growth of urban trees. It's been an invaluable partner with North Willow Glen, supplying free trees, expertise, organizational energy and volunteers to our street tree plantings. Working with Our City Forest, North Willow Glen neighbors have planted over 70 trees in the neighborhood in the last few years.

Congratulations to all who earned this award! And special thanks to Our City Forest.
