N'Hood Improvement Day:
500 Daffodils planted on Bird Avenue
by Febrary de Light
October 2004

On October 30, 2004,
neighborhood volunteers
planted about 500 daffodil bulbs in Hummingbird Park and in the Bird Avenue median north of Coe. The effort was a collaboration with the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association.

The bulb planting is part of the annual drive of San Jose Beautiful to add color to our neighborhoods; SJB generously supplied the bulbs, as they have in past years.

Three cheers for
the hard-workin'
crew of Dan Erceg and Ken Eklund from Fuller Avenue, Jay Kreshel from Delmas Avenue, Jim Spence from the WGNA, and especially Ed Rast from Spencer Avenue and Judi McComak from Marshall Avenue, who organized the effort. And thanks to Jessica from the Bird/Willow area, who stopped by and pitched in.
