Update,March 2004:
HABLEMOS will have a clean-up day
on Saturday, November 8th, at Gardner Academy
from 10 am to 2 pm.
We will have a number of school families and teachers on campus
picking up litter, doing gardening projects, sweeping, raking & cleaning.
Please come help!

North Willow Glen residents Kathryn Billington, Corina Vera and other Gardner Academy parents and teachers have formed a club for parents and others interested in supporting Gardner Academy. HABLEMOS! ‘Supporters of Gardner Academy' is set up as a non-profit with membership granted to anybody interested in supporting the school (you just have to attend one meeting to register your interest). Over 125 teachers & parents have gotten involved in activities so far and it would be great to get additional community involvement.

Much of the club’s effort is going into assuring that the school fully benefits from Measure C dollars during the summer renovations. Additional efforts are now underway to secure Measure F dollars for further improvements to the school. We have been reassured by the school district that despite the budget crisis, Measure C dollars and Measure F dollars will be available to make desperately needed improvements to Gardner’s physical facilities. We are also pursuing funds to upgrade the fencing around the perimeter of the school.

HABLEMOS! has also taken action to improve the school’s appearance. The club organized two school clean-up days, with 100+ hours of volunteer labor spent picking up trash, sweeping, clearing gutters of leaves, planting flowers, etc. HABLEMOS! volunteers also designed and built a new redwood bridge for the on-campus California Science Habitat garden.

The 2003-2004 schedule is as follows - the public is welcome to attend:
