Mixed-Use Retail at Alma Bowl Site

From a memo sent to City Planning, September 25, 2002. This was before the City Council changed the General Plan to allow the Alma Bowl site to be residential-only.
Mixed-Use. This site [the Alma Bowl-Sprig Electric site] located at a light-rail station, appears to be a special opportunity to create a vibrant, mixed-use activity center. Also, the San Jose General Plan specifies this site to have a General Plan Designation of "mixed-use." The addition of retail commercial uses would provide needed services to residents of the condominiums and townhouses. VTA staff recommends that the project be developed with mixed uses in order to take advantage of the benefits of mixed uses near transit."
