EIR Scoping meeting for the KB Home/Del Monte Residential Project is to be
held on Wednesday March 17, 2004 at 6:30 p.m.

Meeting is being held at the SJFD Training Center Meeting Room, 255 S. Montgomery St. between Park and West San Carlos. The project includes rezoning 13.3 acres on both sides of Auzerais between Sunol and Los Gatos
Creek from Heavy Industrial to A (PD) Planned Development Zoning District and would allow demolition of existing cannery structures. The proposal is for up to 400 units. Planning Contact is Michael Rhoades 408-277-4576.

The neighborhood leaders for the project and surrounding areas had a meeting on this past Monday March 8 and discussed an approach to working with the developers on the project and area traffic issues and will be having additional meetings after the above meeting.

The area Neighborhood Associations have learned from the Tamien Place
project and are applying the same organizational structure and "lessons
learned" in working with what has been so far a more " neighborhood
friendly " developer. Time and the project will tell if this is the "positive example" of how to work with developers. We are optimistic, which
you have to be to work on neighborhood issues.
