Trail Connection
The Gregory Street Bridge opens!
by Blaize D. Way
February 2004

For bicyclists
and pedestrians.

The bridge project cost the City about $250,000. The bridge itself was prebuilt as two halves, each 70' long, in Minnesota. To see the bridge installation, click here.

Opening Day.
The Dedication Day dawned clear and sunny after weeks (it seemed) of rain. Councilmember Ken Yeager officiated the opening ceremony, and Cliff Price (of the Gregory neighborhood, above far left) and Tom Smith (of the North Willow Glen neighborhood, above far right) gave remarks.

Neighborhood Connections.
The Gregory Street Bridge connects the Gregory, Gardner and North Willow Glen with the Los Gatos Creek trail on the other side of the creek. Right now the trail leads only as far as Lonus Court, a street off Lincoln Avenue, but when complete (in 2007 or so) the trail will lead upstream all the way to Los Gatos, and downstream all the way to Confluence Point and the Guadalupe River Trail. It will be a pedestrian-friendly way for our neighborhood to connect to the Gregory-Hannah and Delmas Park neighborhoods downstream and Willow Glen upstream.
