Minutes

1. Call to Order- Ken Eklund, NWGNA president 7:12 pm

  • Police Report – Officer Lazorski & Unger
2. What's going on in the neighborhood? Officer's report and citizen input
  • At Gardner meeting on Monday and no concerns were voiced. No violent crimes reported.
  • House on Jerome recently sold. Historically been a problem house.
  • Fire on Bird/Willow – No new information at this time on the cause or rebuilding effort.
  • Update on the Spencer shooting – the suspect is in custody. It’s believed to be gang related.

3. Neighborhood Improvement Day

  • Another white signature fence will be installed at Willow and Delmas this Saturday. Meet at 9:00 at Willow and Delmas. Volunteers wanted to help dig post holes, priming posts…
  • This will take two weekends to finish. If your interested in helping the following weekend, follow up with Dan Erceg.
  • May 14 th, the neighborhood will work on painting and cleaning the Delmas bridge by Fuller.

4. Neighborhood Garage Sale

  • Sign up now
  • Assistance is needed and volunteers is needed
  • Volunteer tasks are about 2-3 hours each

5. Fourth of July Block Party

  • 11:00 organizational meeting at Tlaquepaque- volunteer's meeting on March 5, 10 am at Willows Deli.
  • Volunteer was found for kid’s games – great news
  • Even if you’re not available on July 4 th, there’s still an opportunity to assist in activities like flier distribution.
  • Volunteers of all kinds needed - help prepare, set up, conduct the event, clean up. Jim Moore and Annette Boyer are the co-chairs. Call Jim for info 297-0685

6. Dumpster Report Still in planning stage. Trying to work around the garage sale date.

7. Quick Update:

Two Little Delmas developments (on Delmas south of Willow).

  • Project #1: Working to move the plans to planning during June
  • many problems; way out of scale with the neighborhood
  • Project #2: Planning sent the plans back for additional review. Information is on the web site at www.northwillowglen.org

Action required:

Project #2: Review the information and send a letter to planning sharing your opinion. email Ed Schreiner, the City Planner, regarding PDC04-092 and PDC04-099: Ed’s phone number is: 277-4000.

8. The downtown core is expanding. How it affects us:

  • Height restriction will be lifted (only limited by airport)
  • Traffic zone changes

Action required: Send letter to City planning. Attn: Stan ? . Information on web site.

  • Del Monte – Limited to 4 stories, limited off street parking, putting in 2.2 acre park on Auzerais, fund portion of light rail line. They will try to salvage the façade of the building and use it in the project.

9. Future Guests :

  • Neighborhood action in May,
    Transit Riders union in June
    Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley July

Neighborhood happenings:

  • Planning 101 class offered
  • May 7 th district 6 is having a 9-11 Neighborhoods meeting
  • May 10 th 7-9 PM WG United Methodist Church WGNA have general elections

Neighborhood night at Circus Chimera at the Children’s Discovery Museum May 19 th

  • Tickets include dinner and circus
  • Tickets cost $5.00

10. Quality of Life - Speak up about what bugs you, what works on your street.

On the minds of the residents at the meeting:

  • Traffic still a concern – would like to see the radar gun
  • Heidi is interested in planting additional trees in the neighborhood. Contact her if you are interested in helping.

Little Delmas Developments: Neighbors are objecting to density and destruction of the street's vintage feel. Call planner Ed Schreiner regarding PDC04-092 and PDC04-099: 277-4000.
